Arrecife’s council has joined Lanzarote Cabildo in rejecting a proposed low-cost petrol station in the capital’s port area.
Instead, the council supports the establishment of an educational centre on the plot of land directly opposite the National Police station in Puerto Naos, Arrecife. This centre has been proposed by the Cabildo and would involve a “Faculty for Health Sciences”.
“This location in Naos cannot serve private interests when there is an alternative with a public focus and enormous transformative potential for Arrecife and the entire island,” stated deputy Mayor Echedey Eugenio.
The vote follows the Las Palmas’s Port authority’s decision to give the green light to a low-cost petrol station in an area which is already well-served by several petrol stations.
