Arrecife Ayuntamiento have announced the installation of a video surveillance system with a total 50 cameras in different parts of Arrecife, allowing local police to monitor traffic and security in real time.
Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and Arrecife local police Chief Commissioner, José Antonio Lasso, presented the surveillance room last Friday in the local police building on Calle Vargas.
There are 20 cameras currently in operation with the remaining 30 to be installed this week.
The new surveillance network allows local police to monitor various areas of Arrecife in real time, allowing for faster responses to incidents throughout the municipality. Additionally, any footage captured on the cameras can be used in court (all footage stored on the system for several weeks before being deleted.)
