The Font Vella International Marathon has already started and will fill Lanzarote’s seafront promenades from Costa Teguise to Martagorda with athletes.
It’s the first edition of one of Lanzarote’s oldest and most favourite sporting events since the pandemic, and bright, fresh weather means it’s a perfect day for runners.
A 5 kilometre Santa Claus race took place last night in Costa Teguise as a taster for todays’ event. The full marathon has already started ; a half marathon will begin from Matagorda at 10.30, and the 10 km run will start at midday in Arrecife. The finish line for all events will be at the Sands Beach Resort in Costa Teguise.
We haven’t received any news of road closures, but motorists should be prepared for detours, especially between Arrecife and Costa Teguise.
