Playa Blanca will soon be treated to another new supermarket in the resort. ALDI have announced that its new supermarket, at the other entrance to the town, will open its doors on January 29th.
ALDI will open a new supermarket at the entrance to Playa Blanca (coming down from Femes) at the end of this month. The opening on the 29th will make it the second German supermarket in the resort after the opening of Lidl last December.
ALDI’s new shop in Playa Blanca will be the first of four supermarkets that the company plans to construct in the first quarter of 2025.
The supermarket will be spread across 1,200 square metres with 19 staff and on-site parking.
Approximately nine out of ten products offered by ALDI are own brand, 80% of them of national origin and around 20% from the Canary Islands. Similar to Lidl, shoppers will also be able to take advantage of weekly offers on items.
Is that all? Well, maybe not. When we spoke to Yaiza’s Mayor last year, he told us that Mercandona were also showing interest in opening a supermarket in the resort and were looking at areas around the Marina Rubicon.
A plan of action for a new Mercandona in the sunny southern resort is yet to be seen, however, Playa Blanca residents will be overjoyed to have two new supermarket options after years of asking for more choice and fairer prices.
