The Franz Weber Foundation has warned that Yaiza Ayuntamiento will face penalties from the Transparency Commission if it does not to respond to enquiries concerning a case of animal cruelty.
The case in question relates to a video that went viral last summer, and showed two men sitting on a saddle fitted to a young camel while another worker slapped the animal.
The video, in which the young camel tried to rise but buckled under the weight, caused widespread outrage and pledges from the Ayuntamiento that action would be taken. However, almost a year later, repeated requests for details of this action from the Franz Weber Foundation, the Ombudsman and the Transparency Commission have gone unanswered.
