65-year-old rescued after falling on a mountain on La Graciosa

A 65-year-old Italian woman was rescued after falling on a mountain on la Graciosa yesterday.

The incident occurred on Montaña Bermeja, the volcano that overlooks Playa de las Conchas on the north-western coast of the island.

Emergency services were alerted at 1.30 pm, and Emerlan workers and firemen attended the scene, where it was established that the woman had possibly injured her foot.

Her leg was immobilised, and she was evacuated in a stretcher. On arrival at Caleta de Sebo she was placed on the ferry to Órzola where an ambulance was waiting to take her to the hospital in Arrecife.
