The César Manrique Foundation has announced that it will be reprinting a 50th anniversary commemorative issue of Lanzarote – Arquitectura Inédita (Lanzarote – Unseen Architecture) – one of the key elements of César Manrique’s legacy.

Published in 1974, the book showed the unique buildings and styles of architecture that existed on Lanzarote and was intended by Manrique to act as “a record of what exists” as well as a source of inspiration for the future.

The book features several black-and-white photos of structures such as chimneys, lime kilns and dovecotes. It also includes contributions by architect Fernando Higueras, with whom Manrique worked on the Melia Salinas Hotel, and other artists.

An exhibition linked to the book, featuring Manrique’s sketches, photos and other archive material, will also take place at the Fundacion Cesar Manrique, with the opening scheduled for 21st November at 7.30pm.
