The Mióptica optical centre has been a byword for quality and expertise in Playa Blanca for nine years.
Daniel and Anita set up Mióptica in Playa Blanca nine years ago, and it’s a terrific example of how a blend of hard work, professional expertise and great service makes a small business successful. Many of Mióptica’s customers are British residents or returning tourists, delighted with the range, care and speedy service on offer – “Word of mouth is very important for us,” says Daniel.
Lanzarote lifestyles mean that opticians have to cater to all types of customers, from the elderly to children; from those looking for everyday visual aids to fashion addicts and athletes. Mióptica will welcome all of them, and ensure they leave with exactly what they want. In fact, their virtual catalogue offers more than 1,000 frames.
Mióptica offer a wide range of sunglasses, with Oakley and Ray-Ban among the best sellers, but there are also some really high-quality frames from Spanish designers such as Etnia and the exciting new Mr. Boho range.
On Lanzarote, high-quality sunglasses are a must. “There’s no excuse not to wear them,” says Daniel, “They preserve your visual health and are available in all types, with graduated lenses, polarisation to reduce glare, and specialist frames for fashion or sport.”
“Fashion is also important,” says Daniel. “Many people like to be a little more adventurous on Lanzarote, and we sell all types of frames, from classic round lenses or aviators to thick frames that are on trend right now.” Among the designer names that Mióptica have recently added are Ferrari, Swarovski and Jimmy Choo.
To help you choose the perfect frame, Mióptica now offer Smart Shopper – a digital assistant that allows you to virtually try on Oakley and RayBan frames as if you were in front of a mirror. The Remix facility even lets you customise your own frames and glasses case with your chosen name or logo.
Then there are Smart Glasses, which allow you to listen to music, take photos and even phone calls. Mióptica offers a point where you can try this new technology out yourself.
But the basis of a great optician is always expertise, eye-care and technology. Mióptica have some of the most up-to-date machinery for assessing vision and is a certified Varilux Ambassador, a distinction awarded to opticians that offer the very latest in progressive lenses. Recently, Daniel joined 200 other select opticians in Milan for the Varilux conference, ensuring everything is bang up to date.
Contact lenses are another speciality, and Mióptica now offer Orto-K lenses – the “pyjama contacts” that are worn the night before, allowing perfect vision without any aids on the following day.
If you want to look Lanzarote in the eye and enjoy everything the island has to offer, head to Mióptica.
