The second edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a Lanzarote proved to be a resounding success, cementing the event’s growing reputation as a premier date on the international cycling calendar. Over the weekend, the island’s roads played host to a peloton of more than 600 riders from 28 different countries, surpassing the participation records set in the event’s debut last year.

Organised by Club La Santa, the two-day race not only showcased elite athletic performance but also the stunning and challenging landscapes that make Lanzarote a unique destination for world-class sport. The event also unveiled its official song, set to be released on various digital platforms in the coming days.

The final stage kicked off in Puerto del Carmen, with cyclists tackling a demanding 74-kilometer route that wove through the south and west of Lanzarote. The peloton battled strong winds as they passed through the dramatic vistas of Timanfaya, climbed to Femés, and rode through Yaiza.

They were not alone in their struggle, however. Hundreds of fans lined the route, creating a unique and encouraging atmosphere in each municipality and regrouping area, cheering the international participants on.

The day’s drama was highlighted by two exciting time trials. The first tested the riders on the climb from Las Casitas to Femés, while the second challenged them along the 12.7-kilometer stretch from the start of the Timanfaya road to Mancha Blanca.

In a display of consistent dominance, Anne Haug and Daniel Kieron triumphed in these timed sections, mirroring their victories in the previous day’s stage time trials, securing their wins in the women’s and men’s categories respectively.
