The annual wine-tasting event to classify the wines of 2023 took place at the Castillo de San José in Arrecife yesterday. The panel, organized by the Regulatory Council of the Lanzarote Denomination of Origin, rated the 2023 wines as “Very Good”.

The seven-person tasting committee assessed 26 wines from different bodegas on the island – 18 dry whites, 4 reds, 3 rosés and a sweet white wine. The “Very Good” rating has been repeated every year since 2017, the last year when an “Excellent” rating was awarded.

Last year’s harvest was the most abundant in history, with 3.3 million kilos of fruit and a record of 29 bodegas producing wines.
