Manrique sculpture returns after carnival

The sculpture of César Manrique on Arrecife’s seafront is once again visible after the carnival celebrations which saw the sculpture closed off to protect it from litter.

After the first Saturday of Arrecife’s carnival celebrations, the sculpture was left covered in plastic cups, cans, tissue paper and takeaway boxes.

Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, saw the images of the sculpture posted by Residuos Lanzarote and promptly ordered that the sculpture be closed off and protected during the celebrations.

After the celebration of the carnivals, the enclosure was removed, and the sculpture can be seen on the seafront once again by the residents and visitors.
