An Italian woman was evacuated from the Caldera Blanca yesterday after suffering from heatstroke.
Emergency services responded to a call from the vicinity of the largest volcanic crater on the island, and local police and Canarian Health Service staff arrived to discover that the woman had various injuries on her hands and feet. Although she initially refused treatment, it was discovered that she had lost consciousness and fallen due to heatstroke.
The woman was stretchered to an all-terrain rescue vehicle and transferred to hospital.
