3,914 migrants have arrived on Lanzarote by the end of August this year, according to the Cruz Roja. This total includes 337 women and 553 minors.

June saw the highest amount of arrivals, with 1,078, while none arrived at all during July – possibly due to weather conditions which saw boats take routes further south to El Hierro or Tenerife.

The calmer weather conditions of September have led to a recent increase in arrivals. The latest  a boat containing 49 people reported this morning.

Only two deaths were recorded on boats arriving at Lanzarote. However, this figure does not include the amount of craft that are lost at sea.
