Cabildo President, María Dolores Corujo, along with councillor Alfredo Mendoza celebrated Eid Mubarak with the Muslim community on Lanzarote.
Corujo noted the large attendance at the gathering, with over 200 people present, and emphasised the large community of Muslims residing in Lanzarote and the importance of multiculturalism in society.
“An occasion to show affection and respect to our Muslim community. Together we build a diverse island that is enriched with the contribution of customs and ways of being of those who are now Lanzaroteños”, Corujo stated.
The community expressed their gratitude and pride that the president attended the festival, noting that she is the first Cabildo president that has accompanied them.
“Thank you for sharing such an important day for our community, to see you here fills us with pride, you symbolise integration on Lanzarote”, a spokesperson concluded in their speech.
