In May, various facilities in the Timanfaya National Park will be made self-sufficient in power thanks to the installation of prototype geothermal energy facilities.

The project comes from the  Ecological Transition department of the Canarian Government in collaboration with the Public University of Navarra .

Located on the Islote de Hilario, the installation will be able to supply up to 12 kWh of renewable energy each day.

Unlike other geothermal systems, which are based on steam turbines, the technology developed by UPNA hardly requires maintenance and is totally respectful of the environment.
