Passengers flying between the Canaries or to mainland Spain have been advised to stay updated on the status of their flights by air controllers, who are staging strike action today, 30th January. The strike does not appear to directly affect international flights.

Minimum service levels at Lanzarote, which are set by the Ministry of Transport, will be 69% for inter-island flights and 51% for flights to the Spanish mainland.

The strikes have been called by Usca members employed at privatised control towers operated by Saerca and Ferronats, with the support of the Comisiones Obreras union. Further strike action is scheduled for the 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th of February.
