Last Saturday, the first adapted sports event took place at the LUDE tennis courts along the Vía Medular in Arrecife.
The activities are carried out in conjunction with the Creciendo Yaiza Association, a non-profit organisation whose aim is that people with special needs and disabilities have equal opportunities.
The Ayuntamiento’s Sports Councillor, Rosmen Quevedo, highlighted the importance of these activities that “allow us to become more aware of people’s lives with disabilities, to share sporting experiences that allow their social integration, demonstrating that it can and should be for everyone.”.
The main objective of the project is to improve conditions and available activities for people with physical, mental, or sensory disabilities, through extracurricular sports activities.
Aimed at children and young people between the ages of four and sixteen (with or without disabilities), the activity will see participants divided into four groups by age to promote solidarity, tolerance, respect, and non-discrimination.
To inquire about taking part you can contact the Ayuntamiento via email info@arrecife.es or call at 928 812 750.
