CACT agree to invest 5000 euros into every bodega that commits to paying 3 euro per kilo of grapes.

Grape farmers on Lanzarote have often complained that the price of grapes isn’t high enough for the work that goes into growing them. To tackle this, the CACT have agreed to invest a minimum of 5000 euros into every bodega on the island that commits to paying a price of 3 euros per kilo of grapes.
The CACT Director, Benjamín Perdomo, explained that this initiative “is our way of contributing to boosting the sector and giving visibility to the work, effort and commitment of those who care for an protect a fundamental part of this island.”.
He insisted that “it is undoubtedly the best way to promote the consumption of top-quality local products and to join forces to maintain a traditional industry that is so deeply rooted in the culture and history of this island.”.
Finally, Perdormo assured that the initiative “will guarantee the consumption of Lanzarote wines in the tourist centres.”.
Three euros per kilo of grapes
Perdomo has celebrated the price agreement between grape farmers and wineries on Lanzarote, as the grape has reached a historic price of 3 euros per kilo. “It is a success that guarantees a decent income for the workers.”.
