Spain’s Meteorological Agency (AEMET) will activate a yellow coastal warning in Lanzarote, starting at 3pm on Friday December 12th.
The yellow warning comes into effect from 3 p.m. this Friday, remaining in place until midnight. Residents and visitors are urged to exercise extreme caution near coastal areas.
AEMET forecasts strong northerly winds of 50 to 60 km/h. Wave heights are predicted to increase significantly after nightfall, reaching between 4 and 5 metres.
AEMET also forecasts that skies will be cloudy, with rainfall & thunder expected. This rain may be persistent across the northern interior of the island. On southern slopes, any rainfall will be less likely. Some clearer spells are anticipated during the afternoon.
Minimum temperatures will remain largely unchanged. However, maximum temperatures will see a slight drop, which could be more noticeable in inland areas.
The public is advised to stay informed of updates and avoid any non-essential activity along exposed coastlines.
