The yellow alert for airborne dust that was originally in place for Tuesday (calima) has been lifted following a change of wind direction. A drop in temperatures and some rain is also forecast for later in the week.

The east wind of the last couple of days has shifted, with south and south-westerlies predicted for today. This will bring the current calima conditions to an end but could affect the direction of landings and take-offs at the airport.

Moderate north-west winds will arrive this evening and remain for Wednesday, shifting northerly for the rest of the week. AEMET forecasts that this will bring a 100% possibility of rain, strong winds and possible storms on Thursday, accompanied by much cooler temperatures than the hot calima conditions of the last few days.

No weather alerts have yet been issued, however.
