Yaiza will once again become the centre of Lanzarote’s culinary scene with the return of the Lanzarote Cheese and Goat Fair, taking place on Saturday, May 30th and Sunday, May 31st, at Plaza de la Alameda.

The popular event promises two days packed with gastronomy, music, workshops, tastings, and family entertainment, celebrating the island’s rich tradition of artisanal goat cheese production. Residents and visitors alike will be able to enjoy tapas, cheese samplings, cooking demonstrations, children’s culinary activities, and live performances from traditional parrandas and rock bands.

Celebrating Lanzarote’s Cheese-Making Tradition

The fair is organised by Yaiza Ayuntamiento in collaboration with the Cabildo and with support from the Association of Artisanal Cheese Makers of Lanzarote (Aqual).

Mayor Óscar Noda and Aqual president Omar Viña presented the programme this week.

Noda described Plaza de la Alameda as an ideal venue thanks to its spacious and accessible layout, offering comfortable areas for visitors, exhibitors, and activities.

Participating producers include Finca de Uga and Rubicón from Yaiza, El Faro de Teguise, and Flor de Luz from San Bartolomé.

Family-Friendly Activities and Entertainment

The fairgrounds will also feature Yaiza’s recently opened inclusive playground, along with nearby parking areas designed to provide easy and safe access for visitors.

Although the official opening takes place at 10am on Saturday, festivities begin on Friday evening with comedy performances by Carmen Rosa and Chano, followed by music from Teguey.

Saturday’s programme includes:

  • Cheese tastings organised by Aqual in tribute to late master cheesemaker Tito González Medina
  • A cooking demonstration by Kamezi restaurant
  • Children’s workshops
  • Performances from four traditional music groups
  • The official Canary Islands Day ceremony at midday

On Sunday, visitors can enjoy:
