Around 4,000 passengers aboard the Azura and Crystal Serenity cruise ships visited Arrecife this Thursday.

Arrecife experienced a busy day on Thursday as passengers from two cruise ships visited the city centre, including Calle Real, the Charco de San Ginés, La Plazuela and La Avenida, next to the Paque José Ramírez Cerdá.

The two ships arrived early on Thursday, 15th October, and remained docked at the Naos and Los Mármoles docks until their scheduled departure at 6pm.

Arrecife targets cruise passengers with higher spending power

Arrecife’s Tourism Department, headed by Eli Merino, is working to attract cruise visitors to the capital.

“Many of them travel on cruise ships with high cabin costs, indicating that they are travellers with high purchasing power. This is a segment that we have been working to attract. This strategy has yielded positive results during this term, making Arrecife a home port for several international cruise lines,” Merino said.

Taxi arrangements for the winter cruise season

Meanwhile, the Transport Department, led by Councilman Mario González Altube, has introduced rotating shifts for Arrecife’s taxis ahead of the new autumn and winter cruise season.

The arrangements are intended to ensure taxis remain available at ranks across Arrecife’s neighbourhoods and centre on days when cruise ships arrive.

The measure is designed to maintain transport availability for passengers visiting the capital during the busy cruise season.
