Yaiza Ayuntamiento has opened the tender process for a €2.2 million project to complete and improve the municipal football ground in Playa Blanca, adding new facilities including changing rooms, spectator seating, a cafeteria, commercial units, and upgraded floodlighting.

The project, funded entirely through municipal resources, forms part of the council’s wider public investment programme. Interested companies have until 24 August 2026 to submit bids.

Mayor Óscar Noda said the football ground project is one of several major investments currently underway in Playa Blanca, alongside the renovation of Avenida de Papagayo, improvements to the Femés access road, and the planned construction of a new library and community centre.

The new works will include four changing rooms for 8-a-side football, dedicated changing facilities for 11-a-side teams, an additional changing area to accommodate consecutive matches without delays, two referee changing rooms, public toilets, sports equipment storage, and new floodlighting.

The latest investment follows improvements made by Yaiza Ayuntamiento last year, when more than €500,000 was spent on installing a new artificial playing surface at the Yaiza municipal football ground, along with underground team benches and other upgrades benefiting Unión Sur Yaiza and the municipality’s youth football academy.
