Yaiza’s Mayor, Óscar Noda, has presented objections to a draft plan for the management of the Timanfaya National Park, asking that the limit of the park be defined by the LZ-2 main road.
Noda pointed out that the current limit of the national park includes an area containing Yaiza’s health centre, football pitch, cemetery and other buildings, both private and public. “We wanted to put a pergola up to provide shade for spectators at the football ground but weren’t able to.”
According to Noda, the LZ-2 is a “physical barrier” that should define the southern edge of the National Park.
