Yaiza Ayuntamiento yesterday announced that a renovation project for the Avenida de Papagayo has been put out to tender, with a base budget of 3.3 million euros.

Yaiza Ayuntamiento opened a public bidding procedure for the renovation of the Avenida, specifically the section between the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the Unidad de Actuación 1 (Ciudad Jardín roundabout) in Playa Blanca.

With a base budget of 3.3 million euros, the work will have an execution period of nine months.

The main actions of the project will include the renovation of the road surface and pavements, the installation of new energy-saving public lighting, the creation of two new parking areas, the implementation of new signage, as well as the installation of public furniture and the refurbishment of green areas.

Yaiza Mayor, Óscar Noda, stated that “this is a priority, since it is a main road that is very deteriorated by the significant load of vehicular and pedestrian traffic it supports, and with which we will improve mobility, accessibility and urban image of a key tourist environment for the municipality, responding at the same time to the parking deficit in the area caused by the increase in tourism and urban development. This project will be a significant improvement for residents, visitors and the commercial fabric of the tourist town”.
