A report by Spanish temping agency Adecco claims that the most in-demand occupations on the Canaries include hotel staff, airport baggage handlers/ auxiliary workers, and professional drivers.
The employment agency claimed that most human resources managers in Spain were having trouble hiring staff.
At a national level, Spain is short of information and telecommunications professionals, health workers and skilled industrial staff.
The report made no mention of the low wages that predominate in many of the sectors where workers are being sought, nor the housing crisis that is causing difficulties for many workers to find accommodation – especially in tourist areas.
