Canal Gestión, Lanzarote’s water supplier, have announced that there will be water cuts in large parts of the island from Wednesday night, May 22nd.

According to the press release issued by the company, the water cuts are due to “improvement works” being carried out by energy company Endesa at the desalination plant.

Canal Gestión stated that the “situation will suspend the production of drinking water in the three water treatment plants of Arrecife and other infrastructures of vital importance for the distribution system, such as the pumping that takes the water to the main storage tanks”.

The company assures residents that they have coordinated a plan of action that aims to minimise the impact that will be caused during the outage.

The work will start at 11pm Wednesday, May 22nd, and the affected areas will be:

Arrecife – Argana Alta, Argana Baja, Altavista, Titerroy or Las Salinas, as well as other parts that may be affected.

Tias – Tias, Conil, La Asomada, Mácher and Masdache. In Puerto del Carmen parts of Matagorda, Los Pocillos and the area between Hotel San Antonio to Playa Grande.

The cut offs are expected to end after mid-afternoon on Thursday, May 23rd, provided all goes smoothly with the improvement works.
