Extensive works to restore the Volcanoes Natural Park area of Lanzarote will be undertaken by the end of 2025, it has been announced.

The Canarian Government stated that it would contribute to works by the Cabildo aimed at “protecting this natural landscape which requires this work due to the passage of time and human actions.”

The works will cost a million Euros and will include cleaning and restoration of degraded zones, the elimination of footpaths and the installation of “dissuasive barriers” (fences, we ‘re guessing) and signs. Invasive plants will be removed, and native species reintroduced.

The works will take place at the parking place and in the caldera of the Volcán del Cuervo, the LZ-56 road and the Montaña Colorada.

The Volcanoes Natural Park is a large, protected area surrounding the Timanfaya National Park.
