Unemployment on Lanzarote is at its lowest level for 17 years, and the island has a lower percentage of unemployed (10.5%) than any of the other Canary Islands, according to recently-released figures.
In July there were 7,723 people registered unemployed on the island, more than a thousand fewer than at the same time last year, and less than half of the records reached during the Covid pandemic.
The Canarian Employment Observatory also noted falls in unemployment on each of the other Canary Islands. The figures have been greeted enthusiastically by politicians and unions.
