The Yaiza Ayuntamiento and the residents of Uga wore their best Canarian outfits this weekend, taking to the streets to celebrate in honour of San Isidro Labrador. Families and friends would gather in Uga to share the festivities.
The recurring phrase of the day, “It’s about time”, reflected a shared sentiment not only in Uga, but the whole of the island. To celebrate freely without restrictions or face masks was greatly appreciated by the residents of Uga.
It marks the first reunion with patron saint festivities in the municipality in over 2 years, and there was a sizeable turn out by both Uga residents and residents of the municipality.
Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, praised “the great organisation of the staff, led by Javier Camacho, who always have the support of the municipal Festival Committee, the local police, guardia civil, Emerlan. They made it possible for a celebration without incidents.”.
