The Rojillos (the reds) have been in a poor run of form as of late with four defeats and one win in their last five outings. This terrible run has seen them drop from second down to eighth spot though they are still just two points from a playoff place.

UD Lanzarote have been formidable at home this season with nine wins and a draw, but on the 8th February league leaders CD Atlético Paso visited Arrecife and gave our boys a footballing lesson. With just 10 men for over 60 minutes, the La Palma side stifled Lanzarote´s attacking force with a brilliant display and ran out 0-1 winners.

The only moment of joy during this period was a nervy 1-0 home win versus lowly SD Tenisca. There are 11 matches remaining for Lanzarote to find a way to reach the playoffs and fight for a position in RFEF 2 (Fourth Tier) for next season.

In the local cup competition, Lanzarote won the island final beating CD U.S. Yaiza 2-0 on 11th February. They now progress to the ¼ final stages of the Province of Las Palmas Cup where they will meet a side from either Fuerteventura or Gran Canaria.

After a whole season playing in our temporary home in Tías it is wonderful to be playing back at home at Ciudad Deportiva in Arrecife. The newly laid astro pitch is superb and the stadium has undergone maintenance which we know our fans love, as well as the hundreds of tourists that turn up at the home matches.

Once you have watched a match wearing a shirt, shorts and flip flops there is no turning back which is why, as if by magic, so many become followers of Los Rojillos.

The club is delighted that so many nationalities have become UD Lanzarote supporters and the response on social media from tourists paying their first visit or more is incredibly positive. Everyone involved in the club is determined that this trend continues.

It’s so easy to come and see a match as the local bus drops you outside the stadium and goes back and forth every 30 minutes. Once there, tickets are always available at the gate.
