Trapped dog rescued from inside aljibe in Arrecife

Yesterday afternoon, fire fighters were alerted to a one-year-old dog trapped inside of an aljibe by a young man walking in the area who reported it to the police and asked that they help free the animal.

Once alerted to the trapped animal by the Arrecife local police, fire fighters quickly arrived at the scene in Argana Alta, behind the Cementerio de San Roman.

Upon arrival they found the one-year-old dog exhausted and trapped in the aljibe behind iron bars. To free the dog the fire fighters had to cut the iron bars with the help of tools.

Once freed, an attempt was made to contact the owner of the one-year-old dog. Unfortunately, they received no answer through the telephone number and the associated address in the database was uninhabited.

For the time being the one-year-old dog has been taken in by Arrecife’s Centro de Protección Animal and will receive the necessary care and treatment until more is known about the owner’s whereabouts.
