The third demonstration against the effects of mass tourism will take place on Arrecife’s seafront at 11 am on Sunday 18th May, gathering at the bandstand and marching on the Cabildo building.  Until now the venue of the demo had not been confirmed.

This will be the same location as the first demo on April 20th last year, although that took place on a Saturday rather than a Sunday. A second, smaller demo took place in Puerto del Carmen on 20th October.

The “Lanzarote has a limit” movement is demanding controlled tourism, a limit to growth, and guaranteed access to public services such as housing, healthcare, water, and conservation, ensuring the protection of the population and the natural environment.

Among the group’s demands are a tourist moratorium, a tourism tax and a residency law to control the population of the islands,

The organization invites all concerned citizens to join this third demonstration and demand “an island worth living in, not just visiting”.
