Olivia Duque, and the Councillor for Tourism, Rita Hernández, attended the Berlin Travel Fair this week to promote the “charms and strengths of the municipality of Teguise.”.
At the fair, Duque stated that “we seek to strengthen the presence of German tourism in our municipality, as well as to loyalty in the market. Our wide diversity, with segments of sun and beach, sports, culture, nature, and gastronomy make our destination very attractive, as well as sustainable”.
“The Association of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands, of which Teguise is part of, is working to promote the decarbonisation of tourist destinations with the development of the ‘Canary Green’ project”. “The objectives are to move towards a tourism model that is increasingly respectful of the environment, being more efficient in the use of water and energy and betting on the digital transition with the implementation of an intelligent tourism platform,” Duque explained.
Councillor for Tourism, Rita Hernandez, stressed that “despite the economic situation in Germany, Germans continue to choose Costa Teguise as one of the main tourist areas of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands to spend their vacations, especially in winter.”
“In 2023, 2.5 million German visitors arrived in the Canary Islands”. “This year has also started very positive as in January, the arrival of German passengers increased 11.1% year-on-year, a growth that could be on the rise until the Easter holidays.”
At the Berlin Travel Fair, Teguise Ayuntamiento “plan to participate in various meetings with tourism companies, tour operators, airlines and other professional agents to analyse the situation of the tourism sector and present the proposals of Teguise as a unique, sustainable and quality tourist destination,” Hernandez said in closing.
