Costa Teguise has been significantly enhanced with the grand opening of the new Lidl supermarket on Calle Las Piteras. Teguise Ayuntamiento warmly welcomed the new addition last Tuesday.
Mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, alongside the local government group and the Lanzarote Cabildo’s Minister of Commerce, Armando Santana, officially visited the new supermarket last Tuesday. They highlighted its role in serving the community and its positive impact on the area’s revitalisation.
“We welcome new investments that are committed to our municipality and which, as in this case, generate employment and improve the quality of life of our citizens,” said Mayor Duque.
The new store spans over 1,700 square meters of retail space, providing a functional and modern shopping environment designed to meet the needs of both residents and visitors. A key focus of the establishment is its commitment to the local economy, working with nearly one hundred Canarian suppliers to ensure a wide range of local agricultural and food products are available year-round.
Nieves Martínez, Councillor for Commerce, emphasised the broader benefits for the local business community, “This opening is a very positive boost for commerce in Costa Teguise, as it significantly expands the range of products available to consumers and encourages competition among local establishments.”
Teguise Ayuntamiento recognises the value of such investments, noting that Lidl’s commitment contributes directly to economic growth, job creation, and the strengthening of the local business fabric. The supermarket will offer a comprehensive range of fresh, packaged, and private-label products, greatly expanding shopping options in the area.
The new Lidl is now open to the public on Calle Las Piteras.
