The 14th Popular Tabayesco Race will take place this evening, with the aim of gathering food items for the Casa de las Estrellas animal shelter.
The race is part of the fiestas of the Virgin of Candelaría, and anyone interested in taking part can sign up today from 3.30 pm to 4.45 pm at the Centro Sociocultural de Tabayesco. It’s free, but participants are asked to donate some food for the animals.
The 1 km children’s race for under-14s will start at 5pm. At 5:30 pm, the adult race will begin, covering 7.5 kilometres of Tabayesco and the Valle de Temisa. Winners of both events will win vouchers for sporting goods. Adults are recommended bring head torches, as part of the route is poorly lit.
The awards ceremony will follow the races, with live music.
