Storm Emilia brought record cold temperatures to Lanzarote last weekend.

On Saturday 13th December, the airport weather station measured a maximum temperature of 15.5 degrees Celsius, breaking the previous record of 16.5 degrees in 1977.

Other stations were even cooler, with the temperature in Tías not rising above 12.1 degrees all day.

Minimum temperatures were also low, with Tías falling to 9.6 degrees at one point.  This, however, is still a lot warmer than the record lowest temperature ever recorded on the island, when Masdache registered 1 degree Celsius in 1995.
