Six people have been arrested at the Lanzarote airport this year, for attempting to bring concealed drugs to the island.
The National Police have searched and arrested six people in 2023, during their routing “hot flights” checks (routine checks on flights that are known to be used by drug trafficking.)
The six arrests resulted in a total of 3.7 kilos of cocaine and 1.3 kilos of heroin seized by the police, which were found in hidden compartments of luggage or hidden on the person.
Last year, a total of fourteen people were arrested at the airport for the same crime.
