Competitors can now sign up for the San Silvestre 5K race in Arrecife, which takes place on the last day of the year.
The tradition of running on St Sylvester’s Day, the 31st of December, is widespread throughout Spain and Latin America, and Lanzarote is no exception. As the event takes place during the 12 days of Christmas, there’s sure to be a festive atmosphere, and there will be several shorter races for children as well as the main 5-kilometre event.
The Arrecife race will start at midday from the Parque Islas Canarias (next to the Gran Hotel). Inscription is free and can be done by clicking on this link:
