This week, the island’s commitment to promoting its gastronomic heritage took centre stage as Councillor Nori Machín visited the Plaza del Varadero in Puerto del Carmen.
The visit marked the setup of a dedicated promotional space for Saborea Lanzarote at the iconic St. Patrick’s Festival, an initiative driven by the Cabildo under the leadership of President Oswaldo Betancort to bolster the local economy.
Saborea Lanzarote is once again offering residents and visitors the opportunity to explore the island’s culinary offerings. Through the involvement of local producers, wineries, and manufacturers, the initiative showcases the flavours that define Lanzarote’s identity. This latest appearance follows a series of strategic efforts in recent years, which have included targeted promotional activities in Dublin.
“The presence of Saborea Lanzarote at an international festival such as St. Patrick’s Festival allows us to continue boosting the island’s economy through promotional activities that highlight our products, our restaurants, the primary sector, and commerce,” Machín stated.
She further emphasised that the Cabildo is focused on cementing a tourism model rooted in quality, destination-based consumption, and familiarity with local goods. This approach is particularly aimed at a market as vital to Lanzarote as Ireland.
Gastronomy, Local Produce, and Landscape
Through this participation, Saborea Lanzarote aims to deepen the loyalty of Irish visitors by introducing them to the island’s authentic, locally sourced products. This is achieved through direct culinary experiences shared with local producers and chefs. The project also places a strong emphasis on sustainability, illustrating how choosing local products contributes to the preservation of Lanzarote’s distinctive agricultural landscape.
Saborea Lanzarote will be featured in a specially designed area at the festival, offering an exhibition and tasting of local products. The space will be enhanced with audiovisual content, lighting, and decorative elements that reinforce the identity of the gastronomic brand. The branding will also be prominently displayed across various event materials, including banners, flags, towers, T-shirts, cups, totems, and on the main stage screens throughout the festival grounds.
The overarching goal is to forge a lasting connection with Irish attendees. The hope is that upon returning home, they will recall the tastes of Lanzarote as one of the defining experiences of their stay on the island.
The St. Patrick’s Festival Puerto del Carmen 2026, held in the Puerto del Carmen Old Town, annually draws thousands of residents and tourists. The celebration features Irish culture, music, gastronomy, and a variety of sporting and cultural activities.
