Runaway bus drives through building in Arrecife

The offices of Lanzarote Bus were evacuated yesterday after a runaway bus damaged the building they are located in.

The incident took place on Calle Velacho, in the industrial zone of Arrecife, and is believed to have been caused when the bus’s automatic accelerator was accidentally activated while a driver was cleaning the cabin of the bus.

The bus hit a pillar and several other vehicles in the hangar and smashed through the wall of another warehouse, causing a large hole.

Emergency services detected cracks in the building and evacuated the office workers. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.
