Rosana has been invited to officially open the Fiestas de San Ginés in Arrecife.
Rosana is the biggest musical performer to hail from Lanzarote since Luisa Linares in the 1950s. Born in Arrecife in 1963, the talented singer/songwriter moved to Madrid at the age of 20 where she composed songs for Azucar Morena before releasing her own album, Lunas Rotas.
This album, with songs such as A Fuego Lento and Sin Miedo (whose video was filmed on Lanzarote), became a huge hit in Spain and Latin America, converting Rosana into the best-selling female Spanish artist of the 1990s.
Rosana has never forgotten her Lanzarote roots, returns to the island frequently and was honoured as the first Favoured Daughter of Arrecife last year.
The full programme for the fiestas de San Ginés will be released later today.
