Our readers regularly send us messages and emails regarding Lanzarote, here are some of your thoughts that we printed in the March edition.

SEAFRONT CYCLE PATH
Dear Sirs,
When visiting Lanzarote, we always hired bikes and cycled to and from via Playa Honda promenade, alas no longer since the ban!
Surely there is sufficient room to include a cycle path, as indeed there is along PDC front, which is often narrower and busier?
If funds for a constructed path are lacking, surely monies can be found to maybe paint a cycle path?
Regards, Steve Forshaw
Ed: We’ve also heard complaints about the cycle system within Playa Honda, Steve. However, as yet there are no plans to change things that we know of.
LOS LIRIOS EYESORE
Hi Ed’s Postbag,
16 years ago we purchased our villa in Calle La Luchada, Tias and the “eyesore” of Los Lirios still remains an absolute “eyesore”.
We wrote to Ed’s postbag about 10 years ago but no reply back as to why this part our town remains unsightly.
Does anyone know why this area STILL remains a dumping ground for builders’ rubble!?
It really wouldn’t take much to put right, bulldozer the land, and that rubble could infill the other parts of Tias.
Wouldn’t it be lovely to build some houses on that site, like the 3-4 recently built near the FT…. If only!
Hoping someone can give an explanation
Kind regards, Marion & Stephen Jones
Ed: There have been persistent fly-tipping problems around Tías for years. I’m afraid t’s just a question of reporting it to the local police or council until something is done.
PUBLIC INCONVENIENCE
Dear Gazette,
My husband and I have been coming to Lanzarote for three months each year for some time now. We love walking and follow the coastal paths all around the area of Puerto Calero.
One of our favourite walks is in and around Costa Teguise.
Not anymore! I have never experienced such disgustingly maintained public toilets.
Some closed, others so vile anyone who goes in may well have health issues afterwards.
This is a family holiday resort, and the council needs to seriously be aware not only of the insanitation, but that families will not be returning when they cannot go to the loo with their kids safely.
Sue
Ed: You’re right, Sue. Teguise need to sort this out sharpish. It’s been a disgrace for too long.
