Puerto del Carmen’s marine parade of boats will take place at midday this year, instead of its usual evening schedule.
The parade, when the image of the Virgin of Carmen is taken from the church and paraded on a fishing boat, while several other boats toot their horns and set off fireworks, is one of the most colourful traditional events in the old town of La Tiñosa (Puerto del Carmen’s original name).
It normally takes place at 6pm but has been moved forward to midday this year. As a result, times in our print edition, written before the confirmation of the schedule, should not be relied on.
The fiestas of Carmen have already started in the old town and will continue for the next 12 days. A full programme of events is available at https://www.ayuntamientodetias.es/event/fiestas-de-la-tinosa-en-honor-a-nuestra-senora-del-carmen/
