The “Blue Zone” intended to regulate parking in Puerto del Carmen will not come into effect until next year, according to Tías Ayuntamiento.
A “Blue zone”, with paid parking controlled by meter or app, has been planned for the stretch of the Avenida de las Playas between Hotel Fariones and Hotel San Antonio since the Plan for Sustainable Urban Mobility was released last year.
The plan also envisages “green spaces”, where free parking for residents is prioritised, but gives preferential use of roads to pedestrians, with measures to promote public transport and cyclists.
Mayor José Juan Cruz said that the council was awaiting the final technical study for the project to be completed, and that there was currently no fixed completion date.
