Weak or moderate rainfall is predicted for today, causing Lanzarote’s emergency services to issue a pre-alert.
A pre-alert is merely a recommendation that public services ensure that they are prepared for possible bad weather, and is not directed at citizens. AEMET, Spain’s weather authority, estimates the possibility of rain at 25% today.
The weather pattern of recent days, in which days begin with cool, cloudy weather and occasional spatters of rain before the sun comes out later in the day, appears set to continue for a day or two, although no rain is currently forecast for tomorrow or the weekend.
The conditions appear to be results of the dissipation of Hurricane Gabrielle, the second major hurricane of this season, which threatened Bermuda before veering back across the Atlantic towards Spain and ending three days ago.
