Arrecife Ayuntamiento has begun to remove several abandoned public phone booths in the capital, as part of the drive to clear public walkways and improve the appearance of the city.
The rise of mobile phones has led to increasing disuse of public phone boxes, and Arrecife claims that it has ordered the company responsible for the booths to remove them due to their abandoned state.
Booths have already been removed from Calle Manolo Millares, and the process will continue in other areas of the city.
