A dramatic fightback by UD Lanzarote saw the rojillos beat CD Tenerife’s “C” team 2-1 at the Ciudad Deportiva in front of 800 spectators.
Second-half goals from Adrian Machín and Raul cancelled Tenerife’s first-half lead and put a stop to some shocking displays of time-wasting by the visitors, as Lanzarote got the season off to the best of starts.
It was the side’s first game at their newly-renovated stadium and, once again, attracted a crowd that other Canarian sides can only dream of.
Elsewhere, Union Sur Yaiza also started the season well, beating Las Palmas “C” 0-1 at the Gran Canarian capital.
Meanwhile, Lanzarote’s other side in the Tercera División, San Bartolomé, were beaten 2-0 by Mensajero at Santa Cruz de La Palma.
