Seven holidaymakers on pedalos were rescued yesterday at Puerto del Carmen after they were unable to make their way back to shore because of a sudden squall.
Lifesavers from the Lanzarote Rescue and Emergency Service had to use an inflatable launch to rescue the holidaymakers, who were on three pedalos which had been caught up in sudden strong winds and been blown out to sea half a mile from the Hotel Fariones.
The seven drifters were returned to the pier at Playa Chica. A further two pedalos were retrieved by the hire company which owns the vessels.
