Part of Puerto del Carmen beach closed due to presence of E. coli

A section of Playa de Los Pocillos in Puerto del Carmen was closed to bathers yesterday after E. coli was detected.

The decision was made yesterday at noon, after Tias Ayuntamiento was informed that samples taken by the health department on Monday came back positive for E. coli.

Tias Councillor for Beaches, Christopher Notario, stated that E. coli has been detected at a section of the beach behind one of the hotel complexes. More samples were taken on Tuesday and the results will be known at some point today.
